About Sestante Consulting

I have spent thirty-seven years in the pharmaceutical industry, all of it on the manufacturer’s side rather than in advisory work, which is the reason I now advise.

At GSK I opened markets across Eastern Europe, building the corporate and fiscal structures as well as the commercial organisations, in countries whose regulatory frameworks were being rewritten underneath the business. Later, in London, I worked on the global launch of a respiratory combination that became the most successful in the industry’s history, and the part I argued for was not the part the company had planned.

At Chiesi I led the commercial case for licensing an inhalation formulation technology to companies several times our size, during the last industry-wide propellant transition. At Novartis I negotiated the acquisition of an ozone-friendly metered dose inhaler technology, which is the same transition seen from the other side of the table.

At Teva I rebuilt how the company negotiated with its device and manufacturing partners, and held responsibility for the device portfolio and for which molecules went into which device. At Lupin I built the European inhalation and specialty business from a Swiss base. As chief executive of Pharmaero I led a device venture built to deliver doses and volumes beyond the reach of conventional inhalers.

Since 2019 I have worked independently, first as Sestante Health ApS and now as Sestante Consulting. Clients have included specialty and generic pharmaceutical companies, delivery device manufacturers, inhalation ventures and financial investors, across Europe, the United States and Asia.

How I work

I structure problems and I coordinate the specialists a problem needs. I am not a pricing house, a regulatory consultancy or a formulation laboratory, and where that work is required I say so and bring in people who do it properly. What I keep is the shape of the problem, in one pair of hands.

Sestante means sextant. The instrument tells you where you are before it tells you where to steer.
